When Does A Cannabis Cart Go Bad?

Updated: Jan 17, 2023

Have you ever wondered why some vape carts are more darker than others? Most people don't know this but the darker oil and cannabis vapes could mean that the product is expired. Cannabis vapes or carts usually expire one year after the manufacturing date. The dark oil could also be from improper storage of your vape product. Even though the product may be darker in color it also means that the product lacks the initial potency that it once had.

When Does A Cannabis Cart Expire?

A cannabis vaporizer will usually last one year after the date it was manufactured. if you store your vape /cart properly, you could possibly extend the shelf life. When you look at it that way there is no set time limit.

How To Properly Store Vapes

You already may know this but the best way to store a cannabis vape is in a cool, dry, and moderately dark place such as a fridge, closet, drawer, or desk. Here are a few ways you could take a closer look into how it is actually done.

Always store your vape/cart up-right, even when not in use. Laying it down on its side might cause it to be vulnerable to dirt and dust, clogging up your device or even worse, causing it to leak.

Keep your cannabis vapes out of direct sunlight. When carts or vapes are exposed to the sunlight it causes the oil to become dark and decreases the potency. This decrease in product is noticeable in effect so it is still safe to consume.

Avoid high temperatures around your vaping device. and ideal temperature or cannabis vaporizers is around 70 degrees fahrenheit. High temperatures can cause your cannabis product to degrade and lose its taste and potency. Storing your vaporizer in high temperatures can also cause it to leak.

Conclusion

In closing, I just want to say that darker oils in cannabis vaporizers or carts could possibly mean 3 things:

  1. The product was stored improperly.

  2. The product was exposed to light.

  3. The product is expired.

Even though the cannabis oil in vaporizers or carts may be darker in color it is still safe to consume.

The only downfall to the darker oils is that the cannabis will not be as potent as a product as it was whenever it was first extracted.

The proper way to store vaporizers or carts would be to store them in a cool dry and dark place; ultimately extending their shelf life. If you can store your vaporizer properly, time is really not a factor even though the expiration date of cannabis carts and vaporizers is one year from the manufacturing date.
